HLS FAQ

Why is there no rebound adjustment on the front shocks??

On shocks with conventional valving and with poorly setup mass produced shocks - rebound adjustment is an essential way for you the rider to get their shocks to work correctly.

With the HLS shock - the rebound is very carefully set for each application and setup, Also the unique rebound setup in the HLS shocks gives a much broader range of use.

Are the shocks Zero Preload??

No - ZPS (Zero Preload) - is a term that is used a lot in the shock industry and was initially introduced by PEP using a very light top spring to allow the wheels to drop away further and still let the quad sag to a lower ride height for good cornering.

HLS shocks us a multi spring setup on the front of some shocks to give the needed sag for certain types of riding while still maintaining the correct amount of wheel travel for good handling. If you are want a true ZPS shock you will need to contact PEP or Baldwin Racing.

How much will the HLS shocks lower my quad??

1.5 inches is a generic answer. Each quad and each setup for each quad is different and is setup for the ride height we found best while testing with a standard tire size for that application.

Each shock is also user adjustable and the rider can raise or lower the quad from the setting that we ship it however it is advised to first try the shocks as shipped as that is how we set them the last time we tested them in that application.

Are there different setups for MX, TT, GNCC and etc.??

Yes - we also do setups for dune riding and flat track.

Are the shocks available for all aftermarket a arms??

We offer shocks for a few a arms now and we are actively measuring and setting up for more as we have time.

How long will it take for a customer to receive their shocks??

All shocks are shipped within 2 working days after the completed HLS order form is received at the manufacturing facility.

Custom shocks and shocks that we are waiting on measurements - will be built within 5 working days after we have all testing completed.

Warranty??

HLS shock have no warranty express or implied and are not to be sold to any state or place that that a warranty is required.

Is the shock user serviceable?? (can the customer change their own oil)

The shocks can only be safely serviced by authorized service personnel and repair parts and specifications will only be available to HLS trained and authorized service personnel.

Can the customer choose the stiffness of the springs??

HLS will make a recommendation based on the latest testing but HLS is very open to meeting the customers needs and as such HLS will gladly install special requested spring rates.

Can the customer make rebound adjustments to the shocks??

The HLS front shocks have a wide range of rebound dampening built in and should seldom need any changes to the rebound after the initial setup however HLS will gladly make the internal changes need to meet the customers needs.

How often should the shocks be serviced??

Normal shock service is as follows. Pro level racing - every race, amateur level racing - every 10 races, all other applications - every 100 hours of ride time or once per year - which ever comes first. Please remember this is a guideline only and your type of riding may require that the shocks be serviced more or less often.

Shock repair if there is shock damage or if there is dirt in the main seals should be performed immediately if there is a problem.

Where can the shocks be serviced??

The following approved and trained facilities can service your shocks in 2 working days or less.
